Williams FW07 (CS) 58019 - 1/10
Overview:
The Williams FW07 is an F1 car that participated
in the Grand Prix circuit of the late 1970's. It won the British GP at Silverstone in 1979, and was the first win for
Williams since it joined F1. The car was driven at that time by Alan Jones as number 27.
Tamiya
followed up their earlier F1 model success with this latest winning car and at last started to make some more changes to the
kit for better performance. The car boasted decals to create either car 27 or 28 from the seasons lineup.
Tamiya had spent a while working out where to make changes and had succeeded with reducing the weight of this new
F1 car considerably. The Williams FW07 was also released only in Competition Special form.
Specification:
The car was based on the CS version of the JS9 Matra but had finally undergone some developement to acheive better performance on the
track. The chassis was changed from the earlier F1 cars to a brand new FRP plate, making the car lighter and the front wheels
were now attached to the car using nylon uprights, to give extra strength, stability and reduce the weight further.
The RS-540S motor was retained from the earlier models, and the tyres came standard
with the better performing sponge/duplo mixes. The kit also included for the first time a lexan bodyset along with the hard
plastic version, with Tamiya touting the lexan one for racing. Original Price 15800 Yen
Collectability:
The car is rare, but also not that highly sought after. This affects
prices accordingly, and although you aren't likely to pick one up cheap, they don't go for the extremely high prices
that over cars are seen to exhibit. I whanted to thank Richard for helping me getting this amazing car. Thank
you.
