Williams FW07 (CS) 58019 - 1/10
Overview:

The Williams FW07 is an F1 car that participated in the Grand Prix circuit of the late 1970's. It won the British GP at Silverstone in 1979, and was the first win for Williams since it joined F1. The car was driven at that time by Alan Jones as number 27.

Tamiya followed up their earlier F1 model success with this latest winning car and at last started to make some more changes to the kit for better performance. The car boasted decals to create either car 27 or 28 from the seasons lineup.

Tamiya had spent a while working out where to make changes and had succeeded with reducing the weight of this new F1 car considerably. The Williams FW07 was also released only in Competition Special form.

Specification:

The car was based on the CS version of the JS9 Matra but had finally undergone some developement to acheive better performance on the track. The chassis was changed from the earlier F1 cars to a brand new FRP plate, making the car lighter and the front wheels were now attached to the car using nylon uprights, to give extra strength, stability and reduce the weight further.

The RS-540S motor was retained from the earlier models, and the tyres came standard with the better performing sponge/duplo mixes. The kit also included for the first time a lexan bodyset along with the hard plastic version, with Tamiya touting the lexan one for racing. Original Price 15800 Yen

Collectability:
The car is rare, but also not that highly sought after. This affects prices accordingly, and although you aren't likely to pick one up cheap, they don't go for the extremely high prices that over cars are seen to exhibit. I whanted to thank Richard for helping me getting this amazing car. Thank you.

The Williams-Ford FW07 was a ground effect car designed by Patrick Head for the 1979 F1 season. It was closely based on the Lotus 79, even being developed in the same wind tunnel at Imperial College London. The car was small and simple and extremely light, powered by the ubiquitous Ford Cosworth DFV. It had very clean lines and seemed to be a strong challenger for the new season, but early reliability problems halted any serious threat for the title.

The car made its debut partway through the 1979 season, driven by Alan Jones and Clay Regazzoni, who took Williams' first win in that year's British Grand Prix, before Jones stepped up and won 4 of the next 5 races with the nimble car. Although they lost out to Ferrari in 1979, Williams had established themselves as the team to beat for 1980.

58069 - 1/10 Williams Honda FW-11B F1

Overview:
The Williams FW-11B F1 car was based on the 58068 Lotus Honda 99T kit released a week before it, and shared the same drivetrain and chassis but brought another famous and popular F1 car to the RC kit market. The Williams FW-11B Honda car was the famous Nigel Mansell Grand Prix winning car, and still demands a huge following.

Specification:

A lower FRP chassis plate was brought together with plastic suspension arms and nylon uprights. The RS-540S motor was used on the car now that it was starting to become the defacto motor in Tamiya kits. A gear differential at the rear provided the car with it's powertrain. On the rear or the car is a monoshock to the upper friction plate. Plastic wheels and sponge tyres give the car track handling and performance.

The bodyshell was a masterpiece of scale realism, modelling the actual Mansell car very well, including drivers head and steering wheel.

Collectability:
The Williams FW-11B is quite a rare F1 car to find nowadays. It does command a good price due to it's rareness, and also because it is a homage to the F1 driving legend Nigel Mansell.

58014 1/10 Martini Mk.22 Renault

Specification:

The car is almost identical in specification to the 58013 March 782 BMW kit.

The chassis is an aluminium plate with plastic parts fitted to it. The rear wheels are driven by a direct drive gear setup from a RS-380 motor, and the car acheives suspension through a flexible chassis system. The bodyshell was once again a very realistic plastic molded shell and represented the real car perfectly. Original proce 6800 yen

Collectability:
The car is quite rare, but also not that highly sought after. This affects prices accordingly, and although you aren't likely to pick one up cheap, they don't go for the extremely high prices that over cars are seen to exhibit.

The Martini Mk.22 car with Renault engine was a F2 car from the later 70's. Tamiya produced the car for release in 1979, after gathering some force with the F1/F2 cars (7 of the first 14 kits were F1/F2 stlye cars). The Martini Mk.22 was not the most successful F2 cars on the circuit, but was faithfully represente as an RC car by Tamiya.
