Brabham BT-50 BMW Turbo - 58031 - 1/10
Overview: Kit 31 from Tamiya was set to be the end of a long line of F1/F2 racing cars. Release in 1982 the car was basically identical
to the earlier 58030 Honda Formula 02 CS kit. The inspiration this time came from the Brabham based BT50 racing car powered by the BMW engine.
Specification:
The
car is identical in specification to the 58030 Honda Formula 02 CS The chassis is an FRP Aluminium plate with plastic parts fitted to it. The rear
wheels are driven by a direct drive gear setup with the motor being changed from the RS-380 to the more powerful RS-540 motor.
The car acheives suspension through a flexible chassis system. Nylon front uprights give the car handling and stability, and
sponge/duplo tyres help with grip. The bodyshell was once again a very realistic plastic molded shell and represented the
real car perfectly.
Collectability: The Brabham BT-50 BMW Turbo is quite rare, but also not that highly sought after. This affects prices accordingly,
and although you aren't likely to pick one up cheap, they don't go for the extremely high prices that over cars are
seen to exhibit.
