58084 - 1/10 Ferrari 189 Fl
Overview:
It had been some time since Tamiya released a Ferrari based car in it's lineup so in 1990 it released the first in the series of Fxxx chassis
designs with the Ferrari F189 Late Version. The car used the F101 chassis that would feature on 3 other kits.
The Late Version of the Ferrari F189 was the very famous F1 car driven by Nigel Mansell, and Gerhard Berger, and
this kit includes decals to recreate the 27 or 28 numbered cars
Specification:
The chassis was an FRP plate setup, with a lower and upper deck. One single oil damper connected the rear motor pod
to the car to give the rear it's suspension setup. The wide front arms had nylon uprights connected with small springs
to allow them some movement on the track.
The car also boasts a ball differential system powering
the rear wheels for realistic F1 performance. The bodyshell is once again a Tamiya masterpiece and replicates the real car
is amazing detail. Large front bumper-wing and rear double level wing finish off the car nicely. Uses the 540 Motor
Collectability:
Due to the high visibility and interest in both Ferrari and Nigel Mansell
the car is quite a collectible kit. It has a high interest from a whole section of the collector market that are focused on
the F1 style kits from the Tamiya range. Parts are easier to come by as some are common on the newer F102/F103 chassis types,
although bodysets are still very difficult to get hold of.
