58021 - 1/12 Can Am Lola
Overview:
The Can Am Lola participated in the Canadian American race series. The first Tamiya
Lola car was a breakthrough in F1 style models for the company.
Although the car was a leap forward
in technology it suffered alot from public opinion on it's relative ugliness.
Specification:
The car was a brand new setup, with the Racing Master No. 1 chassis. The car included the brand new hop-up motor
from Tamiya, the black Mabuchi RS-540SD (later known as the 53068 Sport Tuned Motor. The car was the first kit to include adjustable caster and ackerman steering
setup, with a tweak chassis.
The rear differential was upgraded with ball racing bearings and
put into a sealed unit for durability. A spohiscated manual speed controller was incorporated, and came with fully ball raced.
The bodyshell was also lexan to keep weight down, although Tamiya retained the realistic look of the shell with seperate wings
and spoilers, and drivers head pieces. I loove this car.

58021 RACING MASTER Mk1 bodyset - Thank you pandabear.
Collectability:
The car is rare and hard to find, but also not that highly sought after. Public opinion on it's ugliness also
affects prices accordingly, and although you aren't likely to pick one up cheap, they don't go for the extremely high
prices that over cars are seen to exhibit.
